A political science lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) says President Mahama's justification for releasing the infamous Montie three is senseless.

Dr. Amoako Baah made the statement on Atinka FM’s Midday news Wednesday .He said the release of the montie three was never in the interest of the public.

According to Dr. Amoako Baah, the interest of Ghana’s is to make the court more secure and respected as well as more independent. He stated that if that was the case then the President should release all prisoners since most of them have in way or the other shown remorse for their deeds.

He mentioned that the president's action has undermined the authority of the courts and called on him to apologize.

“It is not true, the president should stop saying that what he did is in the public interest because the montie guys have never shown any sign of remorse, ” he said.
