Bernard Antwi Boasiako [Chairman Wontumi], the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), has indicated that the former president and flag bearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama’s ‘bottom is too dirty’ when it comes to the discussion on corruption.

“Former President Mahama, his bottom is too dirty…it’s not clean. This means that when you talk about corruption, it has affected former president Mahama like Coronavirus,” he told Paul Adom-Otchere on Good Evening Ghana show.

He said the Coronavirus tag fits the former president because, during his tenure, there were some corruption allegations against him which was not pleasant.

Chairman Wontumi noted that with the corruption tag around John Mahama, he was not able to tell the BBC whether he was corrupt or not.

Speaking on the Airbus bribery scandal, the NPP Chairman stated that it has given the country a bad name.

“…Ghanaians like travelling and stuff and we still need World Bank, IMF and other institutions to support us to grow so this one has made the international countries believe that Ghanaians are really corrupt,” unhappy Chairman Wontumi said.

He reiterated his party's position that "Government Official 1" and "Intermediary 5" as the UK High Court described the persons in Europe’s largest aerospace manufacturer's corrupt deals with Ghana are former president John Mahama and his brother Samuel Mahama respectively.
