President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, has assured Ghanaians of a national airline very soon.
According to him, a lot of work is ongoing to ensure that the country brings back its national airline.
He says Boeing will be with Ghana throughout the setup period, indicating that he will soon announce the launch of the airline.
President Mahama was optimistic that before he leaves office, Ghana Airways should be back running.
“I can assure you that I don’t know what the name will be, but let me use Ghana Airways, which is the old airline. I can assure you that a lot of work is going on to bring back our national airline.
Indeed, we are in partnership with Boeing. When I went to the UN General Assembly, Boeing Corporation came and saw us not only in the process of setting up but also to advise on aircraft, training of our engineers, and training of pilots.
They want to work with us over the setup period of the airline, and so I think we have a good partner and work is proceeding, and I probably will soon announce the launch of the airline, and before I leave office we should have Ghana Airways back," he said in his address while speaking to some officials in the United Kingdom.
