Former General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Dr Josiah Aryeh has criticized President John Dramani Mahama as too focused on what the largest opposition party - New Patriotic Party (NPP) - does.

According to the National Chairman of the National Democratic Party (NPD), the president has to rather focus on delivering on his mandate and also take a leaf from the other parties including the NDP.

Dr Aryeh said this in an interview on TV3’s New Day on Monday, February 22.

Asked by host Martin Asiedu-Dartey how he rates the performance of President Mahama, the law lecturer said the NDC leader has only “performed fairly above average”.

He, however, scored him 50 per cent, explaining that the president is not extraordinary among the current crop of African leaders.

On his party, Dr Aryeh said it is the bastion of social democracy in the country, therefore, poised to improve education, health and infrastructure of the country if it wins power.

He described the NPP and NDC as living the same ideology though professing capitalism and socialism respectively.
