Mahama is Ghana's worst performing president - NPP man

President Mahama's 'Accounting to the People' tour which led him to the northern part of the country did not go as expected, as he did not get the cheering reception from the people.

One would have expected that, since the President is a native of the Northern part of the country, the least crowd to cheer him as part of his reception would have taken the trend of home coming event by both members of the family and friends cum sympathizers of the ruling party.

The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) sees this as a sign of the hope to take over the Northern Region.

Speaking in an interview with Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, NPP regional secretary , Mr. Sulley Salifu said President Mahama in 2012 asked the people in the north to vote for him because he knew their problems and the people ''actually voted for him but from all indications, he is the worst performing president this country ever have produced..'

According to him, in President Mahama's own constituency Bole, access to portable drinking water is nothing to write home about, while TV reception is terribly bad.

Mr. Sulley Salifu indicated that, there is total disaster in terms of development and the level of suffering in Gonja, from where the president hails from.

The Bimbilla road he said is deplorable and now stream where ducks swim. He opined, President Mahama has incurred the wrath of the people of Mamprugu, for appointing a People's National Convention's (PNC) man to be regional minister.

He alleged that because of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, President has neglected the people of Mamprugu when it comes to developmental projects.

''I'm saying that, basically in the north, the president has failed us.'' Scholarships enjoyed by the people in the three Northern Regions in terms of feeding under the late Dr. Kwame Nkrumah has stopped functioning under President Mahama.

He said, although students are being forced to go back to school, but the quality of feeding is a very bad taste; as students are complaining yet, President Mahama has failed to do anything about it.

''The people in the North have realised that President Mahama is a deceitful character because he said he will implement free Senior High School; however, the question everyone is asking is that, if he cannot feed students in the three Northern Regions, how can he effectively implement the free SHS policy in Ghana. So the people are now becoming awake; they've realised that it is no more about voting for my brother but it’s about voting for somebody who is competent who can deliver you from the suffering you are going through.''

The accounting to the people tour by the president he added, was a waste of state resources.

He chided President Mahama for embarking on a tour in only 8 constituencies out of the 31 constituencies.

Mr. Sulley Salifu lambasted President Mahama for coming to the region and speaking ''big english'' when in actual fact, the residents are mostly illiterates.

He wondered how the president Mahama will embark on a so-called accounting to the people tour, yet do not allow residents to ask him questions.

The president he said was not happy because the number he expected to cheer him on during the tour failed to come out in their numbers. He rubbished claims that the NPP had photo shopped pictures going round.

The pictures circulating on social media he said reflect exactly what transpired in the region and that the NPP had not photo shopped any photos.

The NPP's message of hope and deliverance promised Ghanaians he emphasied is getting down with Ghanaians and come election day, the NPP will increase their parliamentary seats and make Nana Addo president.
