Mahama gov’t befuddled by Supreme Court challenge - Economist

The Executive Director of the Centre for Policy Analysis believes that the New Patriotic Party’s challenge of President Mahama’s legitimacy is having a toll on the performance of his administration.

He said the president “sleeps and wakes up” with the court issue on his head, maintaining that the process is having a negative effect on the entire government.

Leaders of the opposition party petitioned the Supreme Court to invalidate the results of the 2012 polls which saw Mr Mahama emerge winner. They cite widespread irregularities at various polling stations which they claim favoured the president.

Dr. Abbey who was assessing the president’s performance on his hundred days in office, told Joy News John Mahama is working under difficult conditions.

He however scored Mr Mahama seven out of ten, given the difficult circumstances and the “constitutional crisis hanging” around the neck of the nation.
