Former Eastern Regional Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Bismark Tawiah Boateng, has described his defeat at the just ended Regional elections of the Party to some machinations put up by certain appointees of former President Mahama who were bent on getting him out because of his tough nature.

Mr Tawiah Boateng was attempting to seek another term as the Eastern Regional Chairman of the party but failed. He trailed behind Mr John Owusu Amankrah, popularly known as Jowak, at the Regional elections of the party at the weekend.

Speaking In an interview with Ekourba Gyasi on Atinka AM Drive, Tawiah Boateng, who was the incumbent Eastern Regional Chairman for the NDC, stated that he was surprised he polled a substantial number of votes since he was fully aware that some appointees of ex-President Mahama were on a remove “Tawiah Boateng” campaign.

Mentioned some notable persons such as the NDC Director of elections, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo and a former Deputy Eastern Regional Minister, Mavis Ama Frimpong as the masterminds. According to him, the machinations of the two personalities got murkier when some ex officio delegates who hitherto do not vote were forced to vote during the elections whilst some delegates also came to the voting centre with flashlights after having prior knowledge that there will be lights out during the counting to enable the machinators to carry out their plan.

“Former appointees led by Ofosu Ampofo, ganged up against me which ensured that I was defeated. In the course of collating votes, there was lights out just to ensure that things were changed in favour of my opponents, all appointees gagged up against me in an operation remove Tawiah Boateng Campaign. All appointees both former and present MMDCE’s, Ministers among others were all against me contesting the elections. These appointees wanted their own people to win the elections" he told Ekourba Gyasi.

Asked if he will work with the John Owusu Amankrah JOWAK) Executives, Mr Bismark Tawiah Boateng assured the party executives and sympathizers that he will work with the chairman and all other executives in the Region.

According to him, Former President Mahama has since the elections called him to console him and his wife and have therefore eschewed all the bitterness he bore after his defeat. He noted that the NDC agenda supersedes personal interest and that he will work hard to ensure that the NDC is voted back into power in 2020.
