Mahama Ayariga’s press convoy involved in accident

Some journalists in the Northern Region, who were accompanying Mahama Ayariga, Minister of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation to the Bole District, were involved in an accident in Bole.

The journalists included Albert Futukpor, Ghana News Agency (GNA), Yakubu Abdul Majeed, New Times Corporation, Karim Nantogmah, Northern Regional Correspondent of Citi Fm, Kukua Fancey of Ghana Broadcasting Corporation and Suweba Yakubu, National Service person with Daily Graphic.

The rest are Alima Bawa of Bishara Radio, Ibrahim Mohammed of Zaa Radio, Mumuni Yunus of Justice Radio, Salifu Adam, TV-3 Cameraman, Washid Alhassan, UTV Cameraman and a Multi TV Cameraman.

Mr Nantogmah, told GNA that Futukpor had a deep cut in the head while Abdul Majeed had a fracture on the left arm. They are currently receiving treatment at Bole Government Hospital.

He said three others got minor injuries and were treated and discharged while those who were not hurt followed the Minister and his entourage to the Banda Nkanda for a programme.

He said the press crew, who are covering the minister’s two-day official visit to the Northern Region were driving to Banda Nkanda to inspect the impact of illegal mining in the area.

He said the steer rack of the vehicle removed and the driver lost control and veered off the road to land under a bridge.

He said the minister visited them at the hospital to sympathise with them.
