H.E. John Dramani Mahama And Hon. Alex Segbefia The Best Fit For Ghana’s Presidency
It is with heavy heart that we, BGF, express our deepest condolence to the family of the late President Prof. J.E.A. Mills, the people of the Republic of Ghana and the NDC party at large.
Though we mourn our late President, we are also hopeful that his untimely death would unite the nation and thereby making Ghana the beacon of democracy in Africa. We are very proud of the smooth transition and swearing in of the new President H.E. John Dramani Mahama. It is a testament of our maturing democracy. We cease this singular opportunity to congratulate H.E. John Dramani Mahama for assuming the high office of the President of the Republic of Ghana.
Through a cursory monitoring of the media after the demise of our Late President, we are of no doubt that Ghanaians, and the NDC in particular are clamoring for youthful and active Vice Presidential candidate to offer a stronger, visionary, compatible, affable and human-centred personality to partner with the current President to deliver the Better Ghana Agenda for Ghanaians. It is our firm belief that this is an opportune time for the NDC to choose a Vice President who is younger and can easily and politically blend with the President. We are also of the view that with the limited time available to elections, time should not be wasted in choosing a Vice President to serve the remaining five months.
Though the current President is yet to declare his desire to contest for the Presidency, we urge the rank and file of our great party, the NDC to endorse and rally behind His Excellency the President John Dramani Mahama as our Presidential Candidate for the 2012 elections.
Our research across the country, within our teeming supporters, and among the floating voters revealed that the death of H. E. John Evans Atta Mills should set the stage for fresh breath, and hope for the nation. Ghanaians wants someone who is selfless and has demonstrable overriding principle to contribute to the betterment of the people of Ghana.
Ghana has come a long way from ethnic considerations in our governance. Ghanaians wants competence and selfless leadership. The youth of this country wants hope and succession to governance.
On behalf of the teeming youth and the good people of Ghana we strongly propose that Hon. Alex Segbefia the current Deputy Chief of Staff and former NDC National Campaign Coordinator for the 2008 elections is the best fit for the vacant Vice Presidential portfolio.
He was a seasoned State Attorney, National Campaign Coordinator and currently, the Deputy Chief of Staff. We believe these experiences coupled with his demeanor have prepared him for this position.
Hon. Alex Segbefia is acceptable generally to all regions, ethnic groups, chiefs and ordinary people of this country. He will also revive the voting energy in the Volta Region that is currently facing voter apathy.
We therefore appeal to the sitting President, the NDC National Executive Committee, the Council of Elders and Ghanaians in general to offer unflinching support and consideration for the choice of Hon. Alex Segbefia.
We further believe that if our adversity as a nation would turn into real opportunity, then Hon. Alex Segbefia is the single best partner to the President in making this a reality.
Long live NDC
Long live Ghana
May your soul rest in the bosom of God Almighty our father, friend, and senior comrade.
