An aspiring constituency chairman for Bosomtwe on the ticket of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Joseph Asante, popularly known as “Sika Wo Bush,” has issued a strong warning to the party leadership.

He cautioned that the use of “mafia tactics” to block eligible members from contesting internal positions is a dangerous trend that could lead to the party’s downfall.

Speaking to this reporter in an exclusive interview regarding the ongoing internal reorganisation, Asante urged executives and other stakeholders to immediately cease the practice of unfairly denying members the opportunity to vie for positions.

He argued that such exclusionary tactics breed deep-seated apathy, which ultimately prevents the party from securing the maximum votes needed for national victory.

Citing the 2024 general elections as a cautionary example, “Sika Wo Bush” noted that internal friction and the “mafia” treatment of certain aspirants contributed to the party’s challenges.

He emphasised that leaders who have served their people well should have no reason to fear competition or resort to underhanded tactics to remain in power.

“If you serve well as an MP, a constituency executive, or in any other role, nobody will vote against you. You will surely be retained because of your good work. There is no way you should fear competition if you have served faithfully. We must stop these things that keep sinking our party in this region and across the country,” he warned.

Shifting focus to his bid for the Bosomtwe chairmanship, Joseph Asante outlined a comprehensive vision centered on reconciliation and strategic growth.

He expressed commitment to restoring total unity within the Bosomtwe constituency, which he believes is a prerequisite for any electoral success.

His vision for the constituency, according to him, is built on four key pillars: amassing record votes to increase the NPP’s margin; ensuring continuity of excellence by strengthening and building on the progress made by the previous administration; promoting executive collaboration through a leadership style defined by peace, mutual respect, and an open-door policy for all party members; and finally, serving as a chairman for everyone by ensuring that every member, regardless of past affiliations, feels valued and heard within the party structure.

Concluding his remarks, Asante expressed optimism about his chances in the upcoming chairmanship race. He noted that his campaign is not built on empty promises but on a solid track record of hard work and loyalty to the Bosomtwe NPP.

“The grassroots know my record. They know what I have done for this party. Because of this, I am confident of a massive victory. I am coming to serve, to unite, and to lead Bosomtwe to a new level of political influence,” he concluded.
