Madina Police track down vehicles

Accra, Nov. 4, GNA - The Madina Police are tracking down several vehicles whose drivers have committed various motor traffic offences and fled.

The Commander of the Madina Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU), Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Charles Ahiamale, on Thursday appealed to the general public to assist by reporting such drivers to the nearest police station.

He said the offences of the drivers ranged from road obstruction, causing inconvenience to passengers, failing to observe road signs, drunken-driving and hit-and-run.

ASP Commander Ahiamale gave the registration numbers of the wanted vehicles as follows: GR 6394-10, GE 2536-10, GW 6881-X, GE 891-Z, AW 44-Z, AS 3063-T, AS 2881-09, GN 1047-09, GW 8576-Z, ER 4955-X, GR 3525-09, GW 9532-Y, GE 8490-Z, GW 8576-Z, GW 302-Y, AS 6033-R, GR 9186-Z, GN 4877-Z, GW 6372-P, ER 5601-X, GT 7987-X, GT 8193-W, GE 9166-W, GW 2219-10 and GE 49 10-10.

He said the Madina Magistrate's Court had issued bench warrants for drivers of several vehicles to appear before it and answer charges of road traffic offences levelled against them.

They are: GR 4656-P, GT 3448-N, GE 4150-V, GT 2091-Q, CR 1957-W, GT 2881-U, GT 1993-M, GR 2501-09 and GE 4881-Z.

ASP Ahiamale warned drivers within his jurisdiction to note that the exercise was meant to maintain discipline on the roads and would continue until next year.

He added that this year the police wanted an accident-free Christmas and appealed to drivers not to speed on the road.
