MTN refurbishes Eastern Regional Hospital

Koforidua, May 10, GNA - Mobile Telecommunication

Network (MTN), as part of its 21 days of community care, has

refurbished the Maternal and Psychiatric blocks of the

Eastern Regional Hospital in Koforidua. The cost of the refurbishment including, painting,

scraping, cleaning and fixing of some broken windows and

doors is estimated at about GHC 3, 000. Employees of the MTN, in collaboration with Zoomlion, a

waste management company, cleaned surroundings of the

hospital and the premises of the refurbished blocks. Mrs Mawuena Trebah, the Corporate Services Executive

of MTN who led the team to do the cleaning, said MTN was

embarking on about 40 such projects for communities across

the country. She said the Community Care Project ran through all its 21 operation countries to give support to communities and TN Ghana won 30,000 dollars at stake for the best country in the community project last year. Mrs Trebah said this year MTN Ghana was gunning for the 100,000 dollars at stake for the prize and therefore had increased its projects and voluntary participation across the country. Mrs Rhoderlyne Entua-Mensah, Health Project Supervisor for the Ghana MTN Foundation, said the Community Care Project was also distributing 300 insecticide treated mosquito nets to patients on admission at the hospital, especially at the Children's Ward. Dr Daniel Asare, the Medical Superintendent of the hospital, thanked MTN for the gesture. He said as "Oliver Twist" they could only ask for more

by appealing to MTN to choose the Regional Hospital next

time to extend the refurbishment to as many blocks as the

company could.
