Cape Coast, August 20, GNA - The Mobile Telecommunications Network (MTN) would sponsor this year's Oguaa Fetu Afahye Festival at a total cost of GH¢50,000, Mr. Samuel Appiah, the Western and Central Regional Manager of the MTN, has said.
He said this when he presented a cheque for GH¢ 5,000, assorted MTN souvenirs and a drinks hamper to the Oguaa Traditional Council on Friday.
The activities to be sponsored include football matches, the regatta, state dance, Miss Afahye and the grand durbar on September 4 as well as print adverts for festival.
Interacting with some members of the traditional council, Mr. Appiah said it was the corporate responsibility of the MTN to assist in the development of countries they operate in.
He said an ICT centre had been built by the company for the officers as well as inmates of the Ankaful Prisons.
Mr Appiah said the MTN would continue to play its part in bringing world class telecommunications services to the people including new products as well as supporting community development efforts.
The Adontenhen of Oguaa Traditional Area, Nana Kwamena Nyimfa IX who received the items and appealed to MTN to consider supporting the Pan-African-Historical-Theatre-Festival (PANAFEST).
