MTN donates in support of Amankuma festival

A leading telecommunication company in the country, MTN, has presented a cheque for GH¢3,000 towards the successful celebration of this year’s Amankuma festival for the chiefs and people of Apinto Divisional Council in the Prestea Huni-Valley constituency.

The company also donated airtime, drink hampers, ten cartons of soft drinks and 10 boxes of mineral water.

Mr Kennedy Kofi Ofosuhene, Corporate Service Advisor, who presented the items on behalf of the Regional Senior Manager of South West explained that the goodwill was to demonstate MTN’s commitment towards the promotion of the rich Ghanaian culture through festivals.

He reiterated that “As MTN is an African company we know the benefit of festivals, which include; development, preserving the cultural and heritage of the citizenry so anywhere we are invited we go in swiftly to assist”.

Touching on the theme for the festival “The girl-child education for national development” Mr Ofosuhene described it as appropriate since it helped in poverty reduction.

“When women have equal rights and equal access to education, they take part in business and economic activity. It also increase earning power and income combat against current and future poverty through providing for the entire family” he mentioned.

He said this year, they supported 45 festivals across the country, added that, they would offer more of such assistance in the subsequent years.

Nana Adarkwa Bediako III, Gyasehene of Apinto Divisional Council, who received the items expressed gratitude to MTN for its continuous support to the Amankuma festival.
