MTN Ghana supports Damba celebrations

Mobile Tele-communications giant MTN Ghana has presented a three thousand Ghana cedis cheque to the Waala Traditional Council to help in the organizaion of just ended Damba celebrations.

Mr Obed Adu Amankwa, Northern Ghana Sales Manager of MTN, presented the cheque and MTN credit cards worth GHC300.00 to the planning committee members of the Damba festival on Tuesday.

Mr Amankwa said MTN beliefs in culture, traditions and festivals hence the need to support in any way it could, especially during celebrations such as Damba.

He said the company beliefs that such festive occasions should be encouraged nationwide to promote peaceful coexistence among residents and to bring about development.

" We in MTN belief that we are partners in development and that is why we support most cultural activities especially festivals in the countries we operate, since they bring about peace and unity among different groupings, which can foster development," he said.

Naa Ali Pelpuo Busah, spokesman for the chief of the Waala Traditional Area, expressed gratitude for the gesture and assured to open more doors for the private sector to operate in the area peacefully.

He appealed to MTN to adopt the festival and become the headline sponsor of the annual event especially the 100th Damba celebration next year.

"We are very grateful to MTN for the continued support to the Wa Naa palace anytime we knock at your doors, we will mark the 100th Damba celebrations next year and we want to write to your office officially in 2020 to become our main sponsors. But I want to use this opportunity to make a passionate appeal to you to consider our application when it gets to your desk," he said.
