As part of activities to mark the Christmas festivities, staff of MTN Ghana through the MTN Foundation have distributed over 150 hampers to babies born on Christmas in selected hospitals across the country.

The hampers, each comprising blankets, diapers, towels, shawls, bibs, toiletries, clothes and other baby essentials were distributed to mothers who gave birth on 25 December, a day set aside to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.

In the Greater Accra Region, volunteering staff of MTN gifted 30 hampers to babies at the Maamobi Poly Clinic and 37 Military Hospital with each of the two hospitals getting 16 and 14 hampers respectively.

Addressing the media after handing out hampers to the mothers, the Customer Relations Executive of MTN Ghana, Jemima Kotei Walsh, remarked that the gesture forms part a number of charity activities lined up by the telecommunication giants to celebrate the festivities.

“It’s a special part of the year and the MTN Ghana Foundation as part of its end of year activities organizes this special hamper to babies born during the Christmas season. So it’s something we do every year and we have employee volunteers who distribute the hampers to the babies born at this time of the year”.

“We have been receiving positive feedbacks. It’s the season of giving and sharing and MTN is taking its place within this space and all the nurses, mothers and I’m sure babies alike are all happy”, she said.

Since its inception in 2011, the MTN Ghana Foundation has donated over 1300 hampers to babies born between 24th and 26th December.

On 25th December, the foundation organized a party for about 1200 children at Kordiabe RC Basic School and Abokobi Presbyterian Basic School.

The children were also presented with teaching and learning aids such as pens, pencils, crayons, erasers, sharpeners, rulers, storybooks, textbooks and A4 sheets to the management of the schools.
