MPs to get ?20 million each

Four billion cedis from the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFUND) is to be disbursed to the 200 Members of Parliament in support of educational projects in their constituencies.

Each legislator would receive ?20 million.

Mr George William Nana Amponsah, MP from Asunafo South, said this when he inspected work on a block of four classrooms for the Local Authority primary school in Kwabenakuma, near Goaso. He said the money would assist the MPs to complete some education projects in their areas.

Mr. Amponsah earlier in the day distributed 24 packets of roofing sheets and 324 bags of cement worth ?22.5 million to a number of communities in support of their self-help projects.

He advised the people to reciprocate government?s efforts to better their lot by paying their taxes promptly.

The MP said the government was on course and would fulfil most of its electoral promises by the end of its fourth year.

Feasibility studies are going on for the commencement of work on the Noberkaw-Kwapong-Sankore road.
