Private legal practitioner and member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Lawyer Yaw Boafo has taken on lawmakers from the Ashanti Region and politicians in general for the mess the once upon a time Garden City finds itself.

Lawyer Yaw Boafo has taken swipe at MPs from Ashanti Region calling them clueless politicians the country has ever had after he disclosed they have failed to advance the course of the region which has resulted in the sorry state of roads in particular.

Speaking on Kumasi-based Pure FM flagship political program ‘Bresosem’ with Dr. Dr. Addai Mensah (Dean Allied Health Sciences, KNUST) at the weekend monitored by MyNewsGH.com, the NPP stalwart and the son of a former Ashanti Regional Minister, SK Boafo indicated that, the politicians most especially the NPP legislators from the Ashanti region have done nothing for the people in the region and have continuously taken residents [Ashanti people] for granted.

He remarked that the people from this region have been discriminated against on all scales including job applications and roads infrastructure yet the NPP claims the region is its stronghold challenging them to prove it.

‘How can you do that? they have taken us for granted for far too long yet our politicians look on. Doc, the time has come for us all to start demanding something for our votes. Look at our roads. This is shameful especially when we are their vote bank’. He lamented.

“If they should be beaten for them to come to their senses, we should,” He said sarcastically.

He iterated that, until they give value for votes they garner from the region to win elections, residents will never be lenient on them as the Ashanti region deserves better especially in terms of roads.

His comments come in the wake of explanation by the Regional Minister, Simon Osei-Mensah that the previous National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration is to blame for the poor road network in the region.

According to the Minister, lukewarm and lackadaisical attitudes of former appointees in the Mahama-led administration has also caused the fast deterioration of the roads in the region.

“The NDC government was so unconcern that the 80% road they supervised in the region reduced to 50% before leaving power”, he disclosed in a radio interview monitored by MyNewsGH.com.
