MP elect for Nabdam announces development agenda

Mr Boniface Gambilla, Member of Parliament (MP) elect for Nabdam in the Upper East Region, has appealed to people in the constituency to bury their political differences and to help contribute towards development.

Speaking to Ghana News Agency in an interview on Wednesday, the MP elect who was the former Regional Minister said without unity it would be very difficult for the Nadam District which had just been created to develop.

“An open door policy will be key under my administration for people with diverse suggestions, opinions and expertise to contribute to help propel the development of the area forward. I am therefore appealing to everybody in my constituency not to hesitate to consult me to make good inputs,” he said.

According to Mr Gambilla, he would teach people how to fish to reduce the poverty situation in the constituency and introduce Nabdam Economic Empowerment (NEE).

He said under the NEE, people who lack skills would be empowered and supported with capital to undertake viable economic ventures.

Mr Gambilla said the area is endowed with natural resources but lack of skills is a factor hindering the people from extracting them.

He said he would help build the human resource base of the constituency by sponsoring the education of a lot of students.

“Improving water, electricity, education, road, health and other infrastructure will be among my top priorities,” he said.

He said he would lobby foreign companies to help exploit the mineral deposits in the area such as gold and bauxite in order to create more jobs and wealth for the people.

Mr Gambilla said he contested the Parliament election to enable him serve his community and nation at large.

Mr Gambilla contested the seat four times for the New Patriotic Party, before unseating the incumbent National Democratic Congress MP, Mr Moses Asaga.
