MP calls for measures to uproot indiscipline in society

Accra, Sep. 28, GNA - Mr Dominic Nitiwul, Member of Parliament for Bimbila on Sunday said Ghanaians would leave no positive legacy to posterity if the indiscipline, which has taken root in the society, is not uprooted.

"Ghana has no future if students in our Universities without any sense of shame expose their nudity in the way they dress. Ghana has no future if we have to bribe before services are rendered in the offices, he stressed."

Mr. Nitiwul was speaking at a fund raising rally in aid of streetlight at Dansoman in Accra, at the weekend.

He said indiscipline undermines the freedom and justice, which Ghana stands for and called on Ghanaians to overcome it. Mr. Nitiwul appealed to drivers to show high sense of discipline by paying heed to simple traffic regulations to reduce the spate of accidents on the roads.

He told the community to hold on to their communal spirit and appealed to the wealthy members to fund projects, such as community centres, which could be named after them.

The Assemblyman of the area, Mr. Abednego Tettey Tetteh announced that the Electricity Company of Ghana had provided 350 new meters to help more households to have access to electricity.

He said, because of the constraints in the disposal of waste in the area individuals would be charged some amount to enhance efficiency. Mr. Tettey Tetteh said very soon, all kiosks would be removed along the roads and asked those who have plans to erect new ones to stop. The chairperson of the occasion Mad. Theresa A. Tagoe, who is also the Deputy Minister of Land and Forestry called on the youth to support the assembly member and show more interest in the development of the area.
