MP Inspects Projects in Constituency

Suhyen (Eastern Region), 22 Jan '99 -

The Member of Parliament for New Juaben North, Mr Hackman Owusu-Agyeman, yesterday inspected a number of projects being funded under the MP's fund in his constituency to assess the progress of work.

The projects include a water closet toilet facility at Jumapo which is nearing completion, a community centre at Oyoko and a community library at Effiduase.

At Jumapo, Mr Owusu-Agyeman said the water closet project, which is estimated at 50 million cedis, is being assisted by the Canadian High Commission in Ghana and the Hackman Foundation.

He said so far, about 10.6 million cedis has been spent on the Oyoko project while 6.9 million cedis has been spent on the Effiduase community library project.

The MP hinted that, last year, about 1.7 million cedis was spent on street networks at Asokore but the project was stalled by a dispute between the local Catholic Church and chiefs of Asokore.

He appealed to the factions to resolve the dispute to pave the way for the project to continue.

Mr Owusu-Agyeman later presented 200 bags of cement valued at 2.7 million cedis to the people of Suhyen towards the community centre project.
