MP Dies - Bye Election Expected

The death is reported of the New Patriotic Party(NPP) Member of Parliament(MP) for Offinso South, Hon Kwabena Sarfo. The MP is reported to have died at 3am this morning after an illness.

Hon. Sarfo had been on admission at the 37 Military Hospital, in Accra, for sometime now. Being a physically challenged himself, he would be remembered for his role in the passage of the Disability Bill.

The death necessitates a bye election in accordance with the 1992 constitution. The Electoral Commission has up to thirty days to hold a bye election after parliament has sent notice.
