MCEs and DCEs asked not to introduce politics into ARPM committees

Apam (C/R), April 29, GNA - The Chairman of the African Peer Review Mechanism Government Council, Rev. Prof. Samuel Kwesi Adjapong, has appea= led to Municipal and District Chief executives not to introduce politics into=

the work of the committee.

He said they should rather give financial support to the committees t= o enable them to carry out its functions successfully. The Rev. Prof. Adjapong said this at the inauguration of the 9-memb= er Gomoa West District African Peer Review Mechanism Oversight Committee at Apam on Wednesday, He said the time had come for Africans to diagnose their own problem= s and find an antidote to them.

"Lack of good governance is partly responsible for the slow growth a= nd development of Africa," he said.

The District Chief Executive for Gomoa West, Mr Theophilus Aidoo-Mensah, promised 2,000.00 Ghana Cedis towards the effective functioning of the committee for this year. He appealed to the committee to work towards the promotion of educati= on in the district.

The Chief of Apam, Nana Effrim X who chaired the function, expressed regret that Gomoa and the Ekumfi areas are among the poorest in the Centr= al Region and suggested that Poverty Reduction Committees in the three north= ern regions should be replicated in the Central Region.
