Low Voter Turn Out Expected In Election2004

The NCCE is entertaining fears that many Ghanaians especially the youth and the poor are likely not to register and vote in the coming election.

This is manifesting in an ongoing public education on the replacement of the voters registration being organised by the NCCE. Mr. Kwame Antwi, the Ga District Director of the NCCE who made this known to Peace fm said many of the youth and the poor complained that they have voted over the years and have not seen any significant improvement in their living conditions and therefore do not see the need to re-register and vote in the coming election.

He however encouraged them to parliamentarians and party they believe can bring economic relief to them. He further cautioned political parties to desist from influencing some electorates to register more than ones since it will put the voters? registration into disrepute. He hoped all will contribute to making this year?s election free and fair.
