Lothar Matthäus inspires young Ghanaian footballers

World Cup winning captain Lothar Matthäus has encouraged young footballers at this year's Bundelisga Football School (BLFS) to work harder to help them achieve their dreams of becoming successful footballers in the future.

The BLFS organised by StarTimes in collaboration with the German Bundesliga saw 100 young males and females’ participate in the five-day training programme which was aimed at improving their skills and also teach them modern techniques in football.

Speaking at the final day of the BLFS, Matthäus who is Germany’s most capped footballer, engaged the young footballers in series of shooting and passing drills at the Lord's Wembley Plus Park in Accra.

"I'm very happy to be in Ghana and to engage these young football talents who are obviously talented and I think these are the right steps to make football in Ghana better in the future.

''They have to work harder and each exercise they undertake would improve their qualities and they would certainly achieve their dreams of playing in the World Cup, the Champions League, among others,'' he said.

Matthäus was joined by fellow Bundesliga Ghanaian icons, Samuel Kuffour and Charles Akunnor who also engaged young footballers in series of drills together with some selected German and Ghanaian coaches.

He also added that, Ghana had the potential and we have to groom these talents for us to achieve positive results in the future.

Matthäus ended his three-day Bundelisga Legends Tour with a match viewing of the Bundesliga match between Bayern Munich and Freiburg with fans winning lots of giveaways from Africa’s leading pay-TV service operator, StarTimes.
