London Olympics: Team Ghana to honour Mills in black apparels

RadioXYZonline.com can confirm that Team Ghana at the 2012 London Olympics has decided to don an all-Black outfit with red arm bands and scarf in honour of the late President John Evans Atta Mills.

The decision was taken early Thursday ahead of the opening ceremony on Friday. Ghana’s contingent was expected to be clad in Kente at the ceremony but the untimely death of President Mills has disrupted the plans.

President Mills passed away at the 37 Military Hospital on Tuesday afternoon after a short illness.

Ghana will be represented at the 2012 Olympic Games by nine athletes made up of three track and field athletes, four boxers, a judoka and one weightlifter.

Amateur boxer, Maxwell Amponsah, will lead TEAM Ghana out of the dugout hoisting the flag of Ghana with the hope of making an impact at the quadrennial sporting event.**
