Lockdown: Ghana Police Service to feed officers at post

Police officers ensuring that Ghanaians adhere to the lockdown directives in Greater Accra and Greater Kumasi will be served food and water, the Ghana Police Service (GPS) has said.

The move, according to the service, will prevent police officers from 'abandoning' their work to search for food essentials.

The policy is, however, to protect officers from contracting the deadly Coronavirus while moving from one spot to the other in search of food especially in areas where most food vendors are not operating.

"To discourage officers from taking cooked food from members of the public without the approval of their commanders so that the officers’ feeding can be properly monitored for health and safety reasons," the Director of Public Affairs, Superintendent Sheila Kessie Abayie-Buckman said in a statement to Ghana.
