Load shedding is a sign of Mahama's incompetence - Kabila

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) will soon come out with a timetable to manage the power challenges facing the country.

The country has been facing bouts of power outages even though President John Dramani Mahama assured the nation last year, 2013 that it was over.

No explanation was given until Mr. Frank Okyere, Systems Control Manager of Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo), explained that the challenges experienced lately in electricity supply was as a result of a shortage brought about by demand outstripping supply.

He said the Asogli power plant, which should be able to produce 180 megawatts of power, was currently contributing 150 megawatts because the gas volumes being received from Nigeria are low.

This, according to James Kwabena Bomfeh Jnr also known as ‘Kabila’, is an indication that the Mahama-led administration is taking Ghanaians for granted.

“Some time ago, he (President Mahama) assured us the ‘dum sor dum sor’ was over, now look at what is happening. There is no way I can trust this President and his government. Since he assumed office, he has proven that his words should not be taken seriously. He engages in mere rhetoric,” he told Kwami Sefa Kayi on Monday’s edition of ‘Kokrokoo’.

According to the former National Youth Organiser of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), President Mahama must stop talking and making so many promises which he never keeps; because the more he does that the more he ‘makes Ghanaians angry.’

“Everything is messed up; nothing is working out positively…at this score, I will plead with President Mahama to stop talking because he is rather pouring petrol into fire, and making Ghanaians more angry. Making so many promises…this government is just a PR government. They are just insulting the intelligence of Ghanaians. He is taking us for granted and it is so irritating,” Kabila screamed.

Speaking to the issue on the same platform, a Policy Analyst of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Atik Mohammed said the ongoing power crisis is an indication of President Mahama’s ‘incompetence in managing the economy’.

“Since he became President he has not allowed Ghanaians to enjoy free flow of electricity for six months and he has the courage of incompetence to tell Ghanaians that it is just temporary…He announces his callous moves towards Ghanaians with such pride. He sees this whole thing as some journey of fun…Being a president is not just about giving speeches. We are looking for action and not going about making further promises,” he pontificated.
