Little Angels Trust, a Non Governmental Organisation (NGO), has adopted the new cancer outpatient unit of the Korle-bu Teaching Hospital Children's Block.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, Madam Dame Lavinia Enim, Founder of the NGO, said by adopting the unit, it is their intention to help the critically and terminally ill children.
Madam Enim said her outfit has over the past eight years been visiting the Korle-bu Teaching Hospital Children's Block to interact with the children and also to lend a helping hand to families who may need financial support with their medical or hospital bills.
She said Dr Lorna Awo Renner, a Pediatric Specialist Oncologist of the Korle-bu Teaching Hospital's Children's Block, has been working with the organisation since their initial visit to the hospital.
"It was such a delight to be shown round the new unit, and we hope that our continued relationship with the management of the hospital would benefit the hospital and attract more organisations, to come to their aid,” she said.
She said cancer does not discriminate and affects all people from different backgrounds, irrespective of gender or sex and that early diagnosis is vital for it treatment.
Madam Enim said the NGO would continue to raise more awareness through their ‘messages of HOPE’ campaigns, 'Love Walks' and other activities to support the terminally ill children of the unit.
