Liberian Immigration Officers arrive for training

Accra, May 15, GNA - The second batch of 50 Immigration Officers from the Liberian Bureau of Immigration and Naturalization (BIN), arrived in the country on Friday, to begin a three month training course. They comprised 40 men and 10 women.

The training would take place at the Ghana Immigration Service Academy and Training School at Assin Fosu in the Central Region. The training forms part of a tripartite project agreement signed last year between the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS), the BIN and the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS), as well as the Repatriation and Departure Service (RDS), an agency under the Justice Ministry of the Netherlands that seeks to revitalize the BIN.

Mr Moses Gyemfi, Director of Operations, GIS, advised the officers to comport themselves during their training.

He said the academy had established itself as a center of excellence= and sought to maintain its high standards.

Human Trafficking among other issues. The first batch of Liberian Officers arrived under the program on September 18, 2009. A third batch of 50 is expected to be in the country next year. 15 May 10
