Let's tone down expectations for fathers

Reverend Forson Agordah of Jubilee Christian Centre, Ho, has observed that society's expectations for fathers are "too much" and must be "tone down".

He said high expectations from relatives, spouses, friends and society were stressing men, with some taking to drinking and must be relooked.

Rev. Agordah said this in a sermon to mark this year's "Father's Day" in the Church.

He said the pressure to get accommodation or build a house, marry and provide for the family could not be handled by all men and that they should be encouraged to be responsible.

Rev. Agordah said many men were suffering in silence, with a few developing lifestyle diseases and urged men to "slow down and celebrate themselves."

"Resources are scarce now. You're not magicians. Do what you can and leave the rest to God," he stated.

The Pastor underscored the need for women and children to complement the efforts of men so they (men) could live healthier and longer.

The Church held a special service for fathers and pray for leaders of the country.
