The Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu has called on the Chiefs in the Northern region to stop disgracing themselves politically as well as the very customs and religious norms that make them true Muslims or traditionalists.

“I beg you in the name of God, please and please let us stop disgracing ourselves politically under the guise of some obnoxious customs and traditions”, he said.

His worry comes on the heels of the failure by Kingmakers within the Nanumba Traditional Area to bury Nakpa Naa Salifu two years after his death with the claim they want to enskin him as a chief.

Haruna Iddrisu wondered what the deceased will tell his creator saying “I am worried that you have instances where chief dies and he is not buried because they say they want to enskin him as a chief. I am worried if the chief will be telling God he is coming as a chief”

The minority leader who is not enthused about development in Bimbilla in the Nanumba North District of the Northern Region, wants the current Regional Minister Salifu Saeed to work towards resolving the protracted chieftaincy crises in the area.

Whereas he pledged the commitment of the northern region parliamentary caucus, he appealed to the incoming minister to work closely with them in ending the decades of chieftaincy strife in the area that has claimed several lives with properties estimated at tens of thousands of Ghana Cedis destroyed.
