Let's remain loyal to our common humanity - Dr Amofa

Kumasi, Aug. 30, GNA - Dr George Kwadwo Amofa, Deputy Director-General of Ghana Health Service (GHS), has encouraged health professionals to remain loyal to the cause of humanity and accept to work in deprived communities.

This, he said, was necessary to bring quality health care to all sectors of the population.

Dr Amofa was speaking at a send-off party in honour of the Ashanti Director of the GHS, Alhaji Dr Mohammed Bin Ibrahim, who is retiring after more than 30 years in the health service.

Mr Kofi Opoku-Manu, Ashanti Regional Minister, and his Deputy, Madam Anima Wilson were among the dignitaries who attended.

Dr Amofa drew attention to the need for them to work hard, show empathy and treat the sick with dignity.

He praised Dr Ibrahim for good leadership and said he spent greater part of his career working to save lives and to bring relief to the sick at the community and district levels adding that a lot needed to be learnt from him.

Mr Kofi Opoku, Ashanti Regional Health Director in charge of Administration, eulogized Dr Ibrahim for his sublime qualities of humility, hard work, discipline and good human relations.

He said it was an opportunity to have worked with "such a great man."

Dr Ibrahim, who has attained the mandatory retirement age of 60, said he was grateful to Allah for granting him long life and the entire workers of the GHS for the wonderful co-operation and support they gave to him.
