Let’s make Christmas joyous for special kids – Ecobank NSP urges all

President of Ecobank National Service Personnel 2018/2019, Audrey Wendy Odametey has urged individuals and institutions to make this year’s Christmas a special one for the underprivileged in the society.

She made this call when the group donated some items to the Dzorwulu Special School.

She said, “We decided to have this donation because we were thinking of doing something special for people who may actually not be able to celebrate the Christmas like we would, and we entreat all to make this Christmas a joyous one for these special kids”.

According to Miss Odametey, as part of Ecobank’s social responsibility to reach out to the less privileged in society, the team decided to donate items worth 4,000 Ghana Cedis which include bags of rice, drinks, mineral water, toiletries, among others to the school.

Assistant Headmaster of Dzorwulu Special School, Fred Tetteh, who received the items on behalf of the school expressed gratitude to the National Service Personnel for the love showed to the children adding that, the school hopes to see them again in the coming years.

Mr Tetteh also called on individuals, corporate and government institutions as well to emulate the good deeds of these personnel.



Background

Dzorwulu Special School was established in 1970 by some concerned individuals who felt the need to secure children who need much attention in a safer environment than leaving them to comb the streets of Accra and beyond.

The number of students increased in 1974 and with inadequate funds to pay staff to cater for the needs of the students, the school was handed over to the Ghana Education Service.

Since then, Dzorwulu Special School has been a governmental institution. Aside government support, the school gets aid from individuals and corporate institutions.
