Let's guard jealously against turbulence in Dagbon

Tamale, Oct. 13, GNA - Alhaji Mustapha Ali Idris, Northern Regional Minister, on Saturday appealed to Muslims to use the Eid-Ul-Fitr to guard against any form of turbulence in Dagbon.

"Today as we celebrate our peace with Allah, let us examine our conscience and let those of us who have imprisoned others in their hearts declare general amnesty to those prisoners in their hearts and let lasting peace prevail in our dear country," he said. Alhaji Idris said this when he joined orthodox Muslims at the Tamale Jubilee Park to mark Eid-Ul-Fitr. Alhaji Idris said it was important for any one who still harboured any form of grudge against anybody to forgive him or her and that it was wrong to give total submission to Allah ''whom you don't see but fail to regard your fellow human being.''

He said the Northern Region was for all Ghanaians and stressed the importance of its people to remain law abiding to ensure that the region moved in development alongside the rest of the country. He said the marking of this year's Teachers' Awards Day in Tamale was an attestation that peace prevailed and appealed to the people to collectively work to maintain that peace before, during and after hosting the CAN 2008.

Alhaji Abdul Salam Ahmed, an Imam of the Tamale Central Mosque, appealed to Muslims to renew their faith in Allah and to continue to share with the poor. He said Muslims throughout the world were peace loving and appealed for sustained unity to win more souls for Allah.
