The Ghana Red Cross Society has called for a commitment from political leaders and stakeholders to ensure violence-free elections this year.

The society emphasizes the importance of avoiding any activities that could undermine the country's peace, stability and security.

Samuel Adobah, the Public Relations Officer, made this appeal, noting that while the stakes are high for this year's election, it is imperative for all involved to commit to peace and eschew violence.

Speaking on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, he insisted that the electoral process must be credible and that it requires the collective responsibility of all stakeholders.

He highlighted the significance of the election, particularly against the backdrop of economic challenges faced by Ghanaians and stressed the need to refrain from actions that could jeopardize Ghana's peace and stability.

He stated that no one should suffer harm or injury for the sake of others' political ambitions.

"This is an election year — a time when Ghanaians will cast their votes and also a period marked by economic complaints. It is crucial to ensure that the electoral processes are conducted in a manner that is free, fair and transparent.

"We must avoid any scenario where violence mars the processes, necessitating Red Cross intervention," he said.

Adobah also advised Ghanaians to exercise caution during the rainy season and to avoid dangerous activities. He called on the media to provide regular opportunities for the Red Cross to educate the public, rather than waiting for annual events.

The Ghana Red Cross Society, a national humanitarian organization and a member of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, aims to prevent and alleviate human suffering, protect life and health, and uphold human dignity in emergencies and disasters.
