The Krontihene of Sunyani Traditional Area, Oboaman Bofotia Boamponsem II, has called on the people of the Brong Ahafo region to come together.
He believes the unity among the people will help them to set their priorities right.
“We need to set our priorities right as a region. We must look at proximity when embarking on projects. I do not know those who thought about the project, their priority and the brain behind the sports complex, but it is them who know why they want it to be constructed at Dormaa. As a Traditional Ruler, I do not want to comment about the siting of it. If they think it will benefit all the people in the region, then they should build it there,” he told Joe Ahmed on StormFM’s Marathon Sports after news broke that a new sports complex is set to be constructed at Dormaa Ahenkro.
Nana Bofotia added: “The most important factor is the benefit that our people will have; we need not fight over this. But let’s not forget about catchment area, proximity and how the project will be put to use.”
When asked why the region seems to be lagging behind when it comes to developmental projects, he answered: “It is not the responsibility of Sunyani Traditional Council to lobby for a Sports Stadium. It is the leadership of the region; the political leaders are those who meet at Cabinet meetings to take decisions.”
The Sunyani Krontihene said the only thing they can do is by advising the authorities.
“Let’s not think about what we will get as individuals. That will make the region weak. It is time for us to come together and set our priorities right by doing the right thing, at the right time,” he stated.
