Let's avoid politics of hatred -- Mahama

Mangoase-Akwapim (E/R), Nov. 27, GNA - Mr. John Dramani Mahama, Vice Presidential candidate of the NDC, has called on politicians not to incite people to hate one another in efforts to win political power. "Hatred erodes confidence, trust, objectivity and love. The absence of these virtues makes our society degenerates into chaos," he said. Mr. Mahama was addressing different rallies at Akwapim-Mamfe, Awukugua and Akropong.

He said: "I entered politics to serve the people and I know that it is God who sets up Kings. It is appalling to see people becoming arrogant after gaining power." "The very people one meets on one's way to power are the very people one meets again when you lose power." Mr Mahama challenged the media to be fair and ensure that equity and justice prevailed as their profession demanded. "It is dangerous for the media to use hatred as a tool for propaganda to destroy society."

He said the NDC would make the Ghanaian the fulcrum of its development activities. Mr Mahama asked: "If the NPP believes in Ghana, has President Kufuor ever flown on Ghana International Airlines plane during his numerous foreign trips? Why was a Ghanaian architect not made to design the presidential palace?"

He said under the government of Prof. Atta Mills, the NDC would not discriminate against any Ghanaian qualified to do any particular job on the grounds of his party affiliation. "It is this that has made Prof. Atta Mills to reiterate that he will be a president for all Ghanaians and not only for the NDC." Mr Haruna Iddrisu, National Youth Organiser of the NDC, Mr Anthony Gyampo, NDC parliamentary candidate for Akropong and Mr Kwadwo Addo Opare, parliamentary candidate for Okere also addressed the rallies Mr Iddrisu urged the people to vote for Prof. Atta Mills and NDC parliamentary candidates.
