“Let peace remain after court verdict” - Imam

Alhaji Yusif Suleiman Amdani, Eastern Regional Chief Imam, on Thursday, called on Ghanaians to maintain the peace the country is enjoying after the Supreme Court verdict on the 2012 election petition hearing.

“Wherever the verdict may go, let us place Ghana first by accepting it to ensure that the peace we currently enjoy continues to exist,” he said.

Alhaji Amdani made the appeal when he led the over 1,000 Muslims in Koforidua to pray to thank Allah for seeing them through a successful Ramadan.

He urged political parties to advise their followers to refrain from unnecessary actions and utterances that could engender chaos in the country, adding that, “we need to use this exercise to re-affirm our democratic credentials to the world.”

The Regional Chief Imam appealed to the government to increase the scholarship benefits for the Zongo communities to improve education among their youth.

He entreated all Muslims to patronize the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

Ms Helen Adjoa Ntoso, the Eastern Regional Minister, assured the Muslims to relay their requests to the presidency for redress and also appealed to them to urge their relatives and friends to stay calm after the Supreme Court ruling.

She donated some bags of rice and boxes of cooking oil among other things to be shared to the needy.
