Edward Ennin, a former Obuasi East Member of Parliament (MP), has called for calm in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to foster unity among members.
Speaking to recent outbursts by notable members of the NPP, while speaking on Okay FM’s ‘Ade Akye Yen Bia’ on March 27, 2025, he called for cool heads to prevail in the party.
He condemned the decision by the party leadership to subject former Dome-Kwabenya MP, Sarah Adwoa Safo, to disciplinary measures over explosive interviews she granted on selected media platforms in the country.
He cautioned that if the leadership continued to summon disgruntled members who go on media platforms to air their grievances to the disciplinary committee, they risk losing up to half of its membership, while deepening cracks in the party.
He alternatively advised the leadership of the NPP to engage members in a discussions to resolve disputes in the party.
“If the NPP leadership continue at this pace, they will end up suspending half of the membership of the party. They must let cool heads prevail and allow members to speak about their offenses and find ways to solve disputes instead of inviting them to disciplinary committee and suspensions.
“In any case, nobody gets paid for being a member. So, if there’re not careful in the way they approach conflicts in the party, they will lose a lot of members,” he said.
