Legon Cities are set to complete the signing of Nicholas Gyan ahead of the upcoming transfer window, Footballghana.com can report.

Gyan is a free agent after Tanzania giants Simba SC refused to extend his deal following the expiration of his contract after the season.

He trained with South Africa ABSA League side Uthongathi FC two months ago but a deal could not materialise.

According to reports in the local media, Cities are in advanced negotiations with him and is expected to pen a deal with the club in the coming days as they try to avoid relegation after a slow start to the season.

Gyan joined Simba SC in 2017 from Ghana Premier League side Ebusua Dwarfs for an undisclosed fee and helped them secure two league titles.

Legon Cities are 14th on the league table with 13 points, just two points above the relegation after 12 matches thus far.

The Accra-based side will welcome WAFA to the Accra Sports stadium on match week 13 of the on-going league as they look to bounce back to winning ways.
