There have been calls on the government to legalize Marijuana in the country by some advocates who believe legalizing the hard drug would help improve the current economic situation in Ghana.

Former Secretary-General for the UN Kofi Annan whiles alive in one of his submissions also asked the government not to only look at the negative side of the hard drug but also think about the benefits that the country can derive after decriminalizing it.

Kofi Annan passed on some few weeks ago and now some Marijuana advocates are mounting pressure on the government to legalize the drug to serve as an honour to the statesman.

Speaking with Adom news on the issue, some advocates argued that Annan’s position was the right one and thus as a respected statesman, the drug should be legalized in his honour.

The advocates argued that doctors in Ghana should join the cause of legalization for the fact that marijuana has medicinal applications in pain management and other areas.

The push for marijuana legalization has been a long battle in Ghana with many prominent celebs such as Blakk Rasta, Kwaw Kese, and Samini all fighting for it.
