Joyce Bawah Mogtari, an aide to former President John Dramani Mahama, has responded to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's jab at her principal.

The president is on record as saying a vote for Mahama will be an attack on his legacy while tasking new voters to engage in the Electoral Commission's limited voter registration exercise ahead of the 2024 elections.

Bawah Mogtari in a post on X (May 7, 2024) pointed out that there was no good legacy that Akufo-Addo was leaving except that of corruption, economic malaise and poverty.

"The 'legacy' of corruption, mis-governance, arrogance, incompetence, running down the economy and pushing many more people into the poverty bracket? How, at all, did we get here as a country and people?" her post read.

It was accompanied by a Joy News artwork with the quote: "ELECTION 2024: Don't vote for Mahama, he will destroy my legacy - Akufo-Addo to Ghanaians."

What Akufo-Addo said:

“The registration has started; I urge all persons yet to register to do so, your vote is your power. I can't hand over to someone I defeated twice and who is not happy with everything I do; he will destroy the work that I have done,” Akufo-Addo said while addressing supporters at a mini rally in Doboro in the Greater Accra Region.

He added, “Vote for Dr Bawumia; I have worked with him for the past seven and a half years, I have confidence in him, I know he can continue the good work.”
