Minister of Communications, Dr. Edwrad Omane Boamah has asked social media users and political commentators to desist from roping in the wife of the late NPP stalwart, Jake Obetsebi Lamptey in their political discussions.

Photos circulating on social media show a smiling Mrs. Obetsebi Lamptey with President John Mahama but in another photo, she wept when the NPP flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo made attempts to console her.

Persons circulating these photos alluded to the fact that Nana Akufo-Addo may have had problems with the late former NPP chairman which is may have informed the reaction from Mrs. Obetsebi Lamptey.

In an interview on Radio Gold however, Dr. Omane Boamah said such images and unsubstantiated claims should not be encouraged.

He said Ghanaians should not be blinded by politics by making such insensitive comparisons when the family members of the late NPP stalwart are mourning. “We must respect the privacy of the widow. Such comments are insensitive and we must put a stop to it,” he remarked.

The final funeral rites of the late Jake Obetsebi Lamptey took place on Friday at the forecourt of the state house.

The event was attended by the President, former President John Rawlings and his wife, government officials, the NPP flagbearer and running mate, Nana Addo and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia respectively, as well as some leading members of the NPP.
