Leaders should rule without fear or favour- Foreign Minister

Tema, Sept. 6, GNA - Alhaji Mohammad Mumuni, Minister of Foreign Affairs on Sunday urged people in responsible positions to be selfless and set high standards worthy of emulation. Leaders, he said, should endeavour to uphold the truth at all times, be fair to all and sundry, and rule without fear or favour. Alhaji Mumuni made the call at the funeral celebration of the late Alhaji Abdul Samad Salifu, Chief Imam of Tema who died on the 27th of August at the ripe age of 80.

The function which was attended by Muslim chiefs, elders and opinion leaders witnessed the appointment of an 80-year old Muslim Teacher, as the Acting Chief Imam, in the person of Alhaji Salifu Sika.

Alhaji Mumuni advised the acting Chief Imam to exhibit a high sense of leadership skills and qualities commensurate with the high office he is occupying.

Mr Kempes Papa Nii Ofosuware, Metropolitan Chief Executive, who said he had known the late Chief Imam for many years, described him as an exemplary leader, a hardworking cleric and a father. Mr Ofosuware used the occasion to advise the youth to refrain from social vices and rather acquire employable skills. By so doing, he said, they could be taking advantage of the employment opportunities in the country in order to lead dignified lives.

Nii Adjei Kraku II, Tema Mantse, asked Muslims and residents in the metropolis to accord the regent and acting Chief Imam all the necessary support and co-operation, to enable him to live up to expectation. 06 Sept. 09
