The National Partnership for Children’s Trust (NPCT), a local NGO inspired by Nelson Mandela's call for global action for children held its annual scholarship in Accra.

About 118 brilliant but needy students who would otherwise not be able to continue with their education, were awarded scholarships for the 2019-20 academic year.

All student beneficiaries are in public institutions.

Since 2011, Larry Addo, CEO of Relish Health Foods, and a prominent philanthropist has made significant contributions to the NPCT’s scholarship scheme. This year alone he donated GHC100,000.

Speaking at the awards ceremony, Mr. Addo pledged his commitment to continuously support the scholarship scheme. He encouraged the students to study hard and contribute their quota to make Ghana better.

The Chairperson of the NPCT Mr Roland Akosah was full of praise for Mr Addo: “Mr Larry Addo has been the single largest, individual donor to our scheme. A true national hero, an unassuming philanthropist, Mr Addo alone has contributed over GHC500,000 in the past nine years to support our beneficiary students.”

Other regular donors include Republic Bank and Ecobank, as well as individuals.
