Lawra Sec Sch PTA Builds 16mC Projects

Lawra The Lawra Secondary school Parent Teacher Association (PTA) has completed a number of projects valued at about 16 million cedis to facilitate teaching and learning. The projects include the renovation of the boys' dormitory, the provision of 100 chairs, 60 pieces of mono-desks, 50 bunk-desks, window frames for four masters' bungalows, dining hall tables, benches and tables and benches for the school's library. Mr. Gasgard Tang, Vice Chairman of the PTA made this known when he took newsmen round some of the projects. He said the PTA decided to undertake the projects because the school was lacking in basic amenities that would enhance the smooth running of the school. He appealed to the district assembly to assist them to complete the girls dormitory, assembly hall, administration block and the library complex which were abandoned at various levels due to lack of funds. Mr. Tang said the school which was converted from a Middle School to a Secondary school since 1968 has not seen any major rehabilitation work. He however said the PTA would do everything possible to put the school in good shape since it is among the best schools in the region even with its numerous problems. He praised the district assembly for assisting the school with a KVIP toilet and called on NGOs to assist them to get a science laboratory.
