Landlady fined GHC2,400 for illegal waste disposal

The Madina District Court has fined a 62-year old landlady, Hawa Mohammed, an amount of GHS2400 for failing to provide waste bins for her tenants, a situation that lead to the tenants disposing refuse on the road during a recent downpour.

The two tenants were captured on camera dumping refuse on the road in the rain.

She was fined after she pleaded guilty on two counts of breaching section 56 Act 851 of the Public Health Act 2012.

Madam Mohammed told the court that she had been on admission at the hospital as of the time of the incident.

The Court also issued a warrant of arrest for the two tenants who have absconded.
