Lancaster students donate to Osu Shelter for Abused Children

It was the 18th birthday of twins Trysha and Patricia Dake, foundation students of Lancaster University Ghana 2016.

Everyone was in expectation of a grand exciting 18th milestone birthday bash with all the pomp, glamour and buzz, but no not these girls, instead of blowing the money on a big party, the twins rather spent it with the Junior Girls Correctional Centre at Osu.

Patricia and Trysha together with some of their foundation mates from Lancaster University Ghana, last Saturday donated a Deep freezer, ceiling fans and food items to the Junior Girls Correctional Centre at OSU made up of a shelter for abused children, a boys remand home, and the South Labone Girls Vocational Training Center.

In appreciation of Patricia and Trysha’s contribution, the children of the Centre did a dance choreography to the delight of the twins and students who had come to support them.

To prove that they could also dance Patricia and Trysha and the Lancaster University students put up a good performance as they danced to Cwesi Oteng’s “I am a winner”.

Gospel Celebrity Cwesi Oteng (of “e be God who de bless me oh fame”) was in attendance and moderated the program.

In attendance to cover the event where the Daily graphic, Joy fm , Star fm, Daily Graphic, GhOne tv. Patricia and Trysha in an interview with the media said their reason for donating to the Center and inviting the press was to create awareness of the Center and its needs.

“If young girls like us have been able to support with the little we have, I believe corporate bodies and individuals can also come on board to help. We want to continue doing this for a very long time” they said.

Receiving the items, the manageress of the home Love – Grace Ahiljah thanked Patricia and Trysha and Lancaster University for the donation and support.

According to her, the donation would help them store their foods and enjoy some cool air.

She however pleaded with individuals and corporate bodies to support them with whatever they have. “The school needs Vehicles, Laptops, Disinfectants, Blenders, Plastic Chairs, Gas cooker etc. and we will be glad if we get them” she added.
