Labourer granted Ghc12,000.00 bail over unlawful entry

A Kumasi Circuit Court on Friday granted a Ghc12,000.00 bail with a surety to a labourer arrested for suspiciously loitering within the compound of the Osei Kyeretwie Senior High School at old Tafo in Kumasi.

Gideon Baah denied any wrongdoing and will re-appear again on May 22.

Police Inspector Gulliver Kwabena Tenkorang told the Court presided over by Mr. William Boampong that, the accused was spotted around 0900 hrs on May 9, hiding in an obscure corner near one of the dormitories, which had experienced a midnight armed robbery attack just a week ago.

The accused was found just when the students were leaving for church service and was quickly suspected of having an intention to do something fishy.

The students in the said dormitory had been robbed of their mobile phones and a cash amount of Ghc164.00 when three armed men attacked them around midnight on April 30 this year.

They immediately raised an alarm and he was arrested by the school’s security personnel who handed him over to the police.

Though Baah denied any knowledge of the robbery incident, he could not also give any convincing reason why he was on the premises.

He was thus, charged and put before the Court.
